THERMICOT - SNT is a wide range cover powders designed for use in the tundish. THERMICOT - SNT is developed in two main forms: insulation and active.

THERMICOT SNT/I is a wide range of insulating cover powders designed for use in the tundish to prevent heat loss during casting.

Typical components in the cover powder are:
- CaO, CaCO3, CaF2, Al2O3, CaO, MgO, SiO2, Na2O, K2O, C

Function of the cover powders:
- thermal insulation of the melt in the steel ladle.

THERMICOT SNT/I powders are suitable for all steel grades. The application is manual. They are added to the tundish when the tundish is min. 1/3 loaded. The application rate is sufficient to give a 25 mm layer of powder on the surface of the steel.

Typical components in the cover powder are:
- CaO, CaCO3, CaF2, Al2O3, CaO, MgO, SiO2, Na2O, K2O, C

Functions of the cover powders are:
- protection of the liquid metal surface from air oxidation
- thermal insulation of the metal surface
- absorption of non metallic inclusions

THERMICOT - SNT/A recipes are suitable for all steel grades. The application is manual. They are added to the tundish when the steel filles min. 1/3 of the tundish.

The combination of THERMICOT A active tundish cover with THERMICOT I insulation tundish cover is recommended to ensure optimum performance of inclusion capture and to minimise the temperature loss.
